SPAIN

Spain Travel Guide: Regions, Culture & Landscapes

Spain isn’t one place, it’s a mix of distinct regions, each with its own culture, language, and feel. Moorish influence still defines much of the south, while Catalan identity shapes Barcelona and the surrounding region. In the north, you’ll find Basque and Galician cultures that feel completely different again.

History is built into everyday places, from palaces and cathedrals to streets that haven’t changed much at all. You’ll move between grand historic sites, smaller towns, and cities that balance modern life with centuries of heritage. The scenery shifts just as much, from Mediterranean beaches and islands to northern mountains and quieter inland regions.

Some places are busy and energetic, others slower and more traditional. That contrast is part of what makes Spain so good to travel through.

Whether it’s your first trip or you’re coming back for more, Spain is a country that keeps offering something different depending on where you go.
